History of the Boatshed in cottesloe Western Australia
Boatshed commenced trading in December 1988. Originally called Boatshed Fresh Markets, the store was opened by then Mayor of Cottesloe, Mr. Charles Murphy.

The building was originally owned by Mrs Cole and was used as a wood yard, ice vendor and by the town blacksmith, Mr. Frank Weston. In 1950 the building was taken over by Stewie Ward and used as a boat building facility.

The most famous vessel built here was AUSTRALIA II, the Americas Cup winning yacht in 1983.

The original boat shed building still exists today complete with gantry. A memorabilia board at the front of the store with pictures and editorial history is still an attraction for local and overseas visitors.
